So why did I organise this? Makeup artists work with thousands of colour combinations daily yet there isn’t any colour education specifically for MUAs available in the UK. Certainly nothing that would teach us how to create harmonies with different colour types.
Every one of us has a unique colour code that falls into one of the four main seasonal categories: winter, spring, summer and autumn. If we don’t know which colour combinations work in harmony with our clients’ colour codes and features we’ll be guessing which ones will flatter them. This is like trying to find something in the dark: occasionally we might get lucky but when our fairy godmother isn’t around we could very easily make colour selections that’ll age our clients or make them look tired – maybe even a bit unwell! And goes without saying that if this happens no one would rave about our services or recommend us. This is why the Colour Theory Masterclass for Makeup Artists was born.
Colour theory is essential in so many different fields: fashion, interior design, hairstyling, gardening, graphic design, the car industry… you name it, colours are everywhere!
I wanted makeup artists to be taught by someone who knows both colours and makeup artistry thoroughly, so when it came to choosing the perfect tutor there was no better than my own makeup artistry tutor, mentor and career inspiration Viktorija Vaišvilaitė. She has a huge amount of expertise in colour theory and psychology as well as being an incredibly talented MUA and internationally acclaimed photographer.
10 years ago she instilled in me the love for colour and I attribute a huge part of the success I’ve had in my career so far to her. She not only taught me makeup artistry incredibly thoroughly but also an amazing amount of knowledge in colour theory. This I also teach in both of my 5-day and my 10-day bridal makeup courses however as we have a relatively small time-frame to try and learn so much, I’m not really able to dive too deeply into it. That’s why this event is such an excellent opportunity to gain the necessary colour knowledge that every makeup artist should have.
Due to the incredible demand and success of the first event and the bucket-loads of feedback we received from the delighted attendees (see some examples here) we’ll be running another one on 7th May AND as a bonus we’ll also be adding an extra day on 8th May to run an Advanced Colour Workshop! This will include more in-depth work on individual colour analysis as well as some colour selection exercises and a live demo of a model being made up with the colours that are perfect for her. For more info on this event please click here. Enrolments are flooding in thick and fast and availability is very limited so grab your seat as soon as poss.
And a HUGE thank you to our event sponsors Wizard Publicity and Korean beauty brand Aperire Cosmetics – we received loads of Insta messages about how much the attendees were enjoying their goodie bags. Some of the items that were included are below.

Lash Liner revolutionises the way you line your eyes with an innovative new long-wear, water-resistant formula.
It’s specially designed for the waterline, a notoriously difficult area to get extreme pigment payoff that lasts. Finally, get all of the intensity of a liquid eyeliner, without any of the running, smudging, or raccoon-eye effect associated with traditional pencil water-liners. Lash Liner glides on and quickly dries down for all-day performance.
Lash Liner’s Hybrid Fluid-Gel formula contains clay binding ingredients for a richer texture than a standard liquid liner, a unique formulation designed to stand up to watery eyes. This super-pigmented formula will set in 15 seconds or less for transfer-resistant long wear. Lash Liner’s soft-tip applicator is custom designed to hold the perfect amount of formula, so you can instantly intensify any eye look with extreme precision and ease. Vegan and cruelty free.
